1000 Miglia

The Mille Miglia is a race reserved for cars built between 1927 and 1957, which takes place over four days, starting in Brescia, finishing in Rome and returning to the Lombard city.

The most beautiful race in the world, a re-enactment of the historic race, is a classic car rally with over 400 participants travelling through seven Italian regions, taking in Italy’s most evocative cities, landscapes and roads, and attracting thousands of enthusiasts and dozens of VIPs every year.

Mille Miglia is revving its engines for its 44th re-enactment, which will return to Lucca on Wednesday evening (10 June) between 6.45 pm and 9 pm for the Ferrari Tribute, and on Thursday morning (11 June) between 7 am and 10.30 am for the historic car parade, as part of the Montecatini-Rome leg. There will be 130 modern cars in the Ferrari Tribute, whilst there will be 450 historic cars.

The route of Lucca will cross Viale Castracani, enter the historic centre from Porta Elisa, then via dei Bacchettoni and then travel the Urban Walls counterclockwise to the Caffè delle Mura. It will cross Piazza Napoleone, Via Beccheria, Piazza San Michele in Foro, Via Calderia, Piazza della Misericordia, Via Cesare Battisti, Via San Giorgio, then Via Fillungo, Portone dei Borghi and Via del Gonfalone and will leave the city from Porta Santa Maria and Via del Brennero. Along the route from 18.30 to 21 on Wednesday (10 June) and from 6 to 11 on Thursday (11 June) traffic and parking bans will be established. In Piazza del Giglio a stamping point will be set up where the vehicles will briefly support and will be illustrated in their historical characteristics by the speaker Stefano Bordoletti.

Along an itinerary of almost 2000 kilometers, crews from 33 countries will have to compete with 144 Timed Tests and 8 Media Tests. The trip will start from Brescia in the late morning of Tuesday (June 9). On Wednesday (June 10) the cars will also face the Abetone Pass and then descend towards Montecatini Terme. Thursday (11 June) the race will immerse itself in the heart of Tuscany with Lucca, Pietrasanta, Pisa, Pontedera, Peccioli, lunch in the historic Piazza del Campo in Siena and the Val d’Orcia.
