Easter Concert dedicated to San Francesco

  • Piazza S.Francesco Lucca, Toscana, 55100 Italy (map)

The traditional Easter concert will also be dedicated to Francis on the eight hundredth anniversary of his death. The repertoire dedicated to Francesco is exterminated. Francis himself entrusted to a Song, among the most musicated in the history of culture, a real spiritual testament for his sisters and his brothers.

A weave between music, art and faith, therefore, that Sunday, March 29 at 17.30, in the Church of San Francesco, will be proposed by the Philharmonic “Gaetano Luporini” of San Gennaro, under the direction of Maestro Giampaolo Lazzeri. They will accompany the Musical Chapel of the Cathedral of San Miniato, the Choir “San Genesio” of the Diocese of San Miniato, with Carlo Fermalvento director of the choir, and the Choir of Monghi directed by Enrico Rotoli.

“Singing the Easter of Francis” is the title of the event, which offers a journey into the different aspects of ‘Francescan’ music: from the most ‘classic’ Brother Sun, Sister Moon, with the text by Jean Marie Benjamin and the music of Maestro Riz Ortolani, to the Song by Francesco by Thomas Doss, up to Il Tesoro and la Sposa, one of the most famous speakers dedicated to St. Francis, composed in 1992 by Monsignor He composed the soundtrack of the fiction Rai Chiara and Francesco in 2007.

The concert, now in its tenth edition, becomes for this year an essential card of the mosaic of events of the program “Francesco. Eight hundred years later: thought, history, poetry, music”, which – as recalled by the president of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, Massimo Marsili – “puts at the center the message and the cultural and spiritual heritage of man and saint in history, literature, poetry, music, cinema and philosophy”.

The concert is free of charge. You must book from 12 noon on Tuesday 24 March via this link.
