Pinocchio and Carlo Lorenzini at the Festival della Sintesi!

To mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Carlo Lorenzini (Collodi), the Festival is dedicating two special days to the world’s most famous puppet…Pinocchio.

Here are the events not to be missed in Lucca:

Wednesday 17 June (9.15 pm) | Palazzo delle Esposizioni

Opening of the exhibition "Le grandi favole: Pinocchio e le altre" (Great Fairy Tales: Pinocchio and Others), featuring 80 stunning illustrations by the master illustrator Roberto Innocenti (open until 5 July, free admission).

Thursday 18 June (from 5.00 pm) | Cannoniera della Casa del Boia

A marathon event entirely dedicated to Pinocchio. There will be a discussion on aphorisms with Antonio Castronuovo, and the opening of the international exhibition "Pinocchio around the World" with Giordano Bruno Guerri, and the text will be explored in greater depth with the critic Daniela Marcheschi.

Thursday 18 June (9.30 pm)

Grand finale with a reading by the actor and singer Peppe Servillo, dedicated to the ‘rebellion’ depicted in the opening chapters of Pinocchio.

A programme of the highest quality that has earned the Festival the patronage of the National Committee for the bicentenary celebrations of Collodi.
