Lake Sibola World Wetlands Day

The Comune of Altopascio presents an opportunity to celebrate World Wetlands Day and, above all, to celebrate an important milestone: the inclusion of the Lake Sibolla Nature Reserve in the international network of the Ramsar Convention, which recognises wetlands of global importance.

The morning kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at the Visitor Centre with a meeting open to the public, coordinated by Ugo Faralli of Lipu BirdLife Italia, with the participation of Mayor Sara D'Ambrosio, Regional Councillor for the Environment David Barontini, President of Lipu BirdLife Italia Alessandro Polinori and numerous guests of national and international importance, together with technical presentations dedicated to biodiversity, the fauna and flora of the Reserve.

A particularly significant moment will be the official presentation of the Ramsar Certification to the Municipality of Altopascio, symbolising a concrete commitment to the protection and enhancement of our natural heritage. This will be followed by a vegetarian buffet and, in the afternoon, guided tours of the Reserve to experience this unique place up close.

An event open to everyone, to learn about, celebrate and share a precious part of our territory.
