Lucca in Maschera doubles up: Eurocarnevale, an international parade featuring over 800 participants from various European countries, is coming in 2026.

Lucca in Maschera has been selected as the showcase for the 30th edition of Eurocarnevale, a highly prestigious international event that, after cities such as Verona, Trieste, and Gorizia, will come to Tuscany for the first time. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, the historic centre of Lucca will be the stage for a spectacular parade featuring over 800 participants from Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, and Italy.

The event, renowned for its spectacular impact, will bring to the city elaborate costumes, spectacular choreography, and the captivating energy of Guggenmusik, the unique musical style born in Basel, characterised by deliberately dissonant and captivating arrangements. It will be a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a festive atmosphere with an international feel, intertwining cultures, traditions, and entertainment.

The partnership with the Viareggio Carnival has also been confirmed, with the grand parade returning to the Walls of Lucca on Sunday, February 8, 2026, winding through the city streets, bringing with it the magic of papier-mâché and the art of Tuscan Carnival.
