Among the most distinctive events is CarnevalFratta on Sunday 22 February, the historic carnival of the neighbourhoods surrounding San Francesco. Established in the late 1970s, it has become one of the city's most heartfelt cultural and artistic moments.
For an entire day, Piazza San Francesco will be transformed into a hub of street art: civic theatre, live music, children's entertainment, jugglers, stilt walkers, street bands, mask-making workshops, puppet theatre, and art and photography installations, with historical images of CarnevalFratta projected onto the façade of the church. An event that intertwines memory, creativity and conviviality, from early afternoon until evening.
