On Wednesday, August 6th, at 9:00 PM, at in Lucca, on the eve of the anniversary of Alfredo Catalani's passing, "L'ultima notte" (The Last Night) will be performed, an original show blending music and theatre. Through twelve intense monologues, the great composer from Lucca recounts his life story, accompanied by his most beloved works and music by Verdi and Puccini.
The evening's protagonists will be soprano Elena Schirru, Massimo Salotti on piano, and the Soloists of the Orquestra Clássica do Centro. A captivating and deeply human tribute to one of the greatest figures in Lucca's musical history.
The celebrations will continue on Thursday, August 7th, the anniversary of the composer's death, with a Holy Mass in memory of Alfredo Catalani, which will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Madonna di Loreto, inside the Church of Santa Maria Corteorlandini in Lucca. The liturgy will be enriched by musical performances by soprano Chiara Ramello and the very young Dalia Spinelli, already a prominent soprano in Italy's leading theatres. Chiara Ramello, a young soprano who has won awards at major national and international competitions, represents one of the most exciting prospects on the Italian opera scene. A moment of reflection, music, and remembrance will conclude the initiatives dedicated to Alfredo Catalani, celebrating his artistic and spiritual legacy.
