Presence, the film directed by Steven Soderbergh, takes place in a house in the residential suburbs of an ordinary American town. It looks like a common, anonymous home, lined up next to others, with a well-kept lawn and a history spanning over a hundred years. When the Payne family arrives, seeking a new beginning after a tragic event that profoundly affected their youngest daughter, Chloe, sinister and inexplicable events begin to unfold. Chloe is the first to sense a disturbing presence in her room, but her words are initially ignored. As the days pass, however, strange noises, subtle movements, and misplaced objects become more frequent, undermining the family's serenity and fueling latent tensions. The new guests become convinced that the house is inhabited by an evil force, something that was there before their arrival. The story is told not from the human point of view, but from that of the mysterious entity that observes and influences them silently, with disturbing patience. Invisible but omnipresent, the presence witnesses the slow crumbling of their security, fueling fear day after day.
