The concert ‘Omaggio a Battiato’ is the Ensemble Terzo Tempo’s tribute to one of Italy’s greatest singer-songwriters, who made a name for himself through the wide range of styles he explored and combined in an eclectic and personal way: after his early pop phase in the 1960s, he moved on to progressive rock and avant-garde art music in the following decade.
From a musical perspective, the years between 1971 and 1977 propelled him into an experimental realm that was unprecedented in Italy: “I began to think that there simply had to be a kind of music suited to my personality and that corresponded to the journey – not just the spiritual one – that I had begun to explore”
