Five evenings, eleven concerts, a thousand shades of jazz: everything is ready for the 21st edition of Lucca Jazz Donna, an event promoted by the Lucca Jazz Club to promote female talent in a musical genre that for so long has only been dominated by female voices, but which in reality welcomes musicians, soloists, composers, and arrangers of the highest caliber.
The first evening (August 7) opens with jazz, world music, and contemporary sounds with Feathers, a project by Simona De Rosa, a vocalist and composer renowned for her refined musicality, extraordinary vocal range, and the emotional intensity that characterizes each of her performances. Joining her on stage are Michal Ciesielski on piano, Aldo Capasso on bass, and Domenico De Marco on drums.
Next up is the group Brassense: Irina Arozarena (vocals and percussion), Alejandro Arozarena (trumpet), Matteo Costanzi (trumpet), Gabriele Gregori (horn), Palmiro Del Brocco (trombone), Maurizio Capuano (tuba), Alfredo Bochicchio (guitar), and Alberto Botta (drums). A brass octet with drums and guitar following, they offer a journey from Dixie to big band standards, from funk to the pop hits of the 1980s. The record label is Alfa Music.
Lucca Jazz Donna is sponsored by the Tuscany Region and is organized with the patronage of the Province of Lucca and the support of the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation, the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, the Municipality of Lucca, and the Municipality of Capannori. The event is also supported byFosber and Martinelli Luce. MORE INFO
