Five evenings, eleven concerts, a thousand shades of jazz: everything is ready for the 21st edition of Lucca Jazz Donna, an event promoted by the Lucca Jazz Club to promote female talent in a musical genre that for so long has only been dominated by female voices, but which in reality welcomes musicians, soloists, composers, and arrangers of the highest caliber.
On Thursday, August 14th, it's the turn of Matilde Gori (trumpet) and the Weavers of Dreams quintet, proposing a project with a repertoire of original pieces inspired by contemporary European jazz. On stage are Sigi Beare on saxophone and flute, Maurizio De Gennaro on guitar, Lorenzo Gagna on electric bass/double bass, and Pietro Borsò on drums.
The second set is dedicated to Fil Rouge Project - L’île noire, an album released by Alfa Music: a project combining jazz, singer-songwriter music, and world music, in Italian and French, created by Manuela Iori, a pianist and composer from the Marche region, and Maria Teresa Leonetti, a Franco-Roman author and singer. Joining them on stage are Michele Staino, double bass; Ettore Bonafè, drums and percussion.
Lucca Jazz Donna is sponsored by the Tuscany Region and is organized with the patronage of the Province of Lucca and the support of the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation, the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, the Municipality of Lucca, and the Municipality of Capannori. The event is also supported byFosber and Martinelli Luce. MORE INFO
