Five evenings, eleven concerts, a thousand shades of jazz: everything is ready for the 21st edition of Lucca Jazz Donna, an event promoted by the Lucca Jazz Club to promote female talent in a musical genre that for so long has only been dominated by female voices, but which in reality welcomes musicians, soloists, composers, and arrangers of the highest caliber.
On Thursday, August 21st, the Elena Paparusso Quintet will take to the festival stage with "Anatomy of the Sun" (Parco della Musica Records). The songs are pure singer-songwriter jazz, with the author's signature in the lyrics, music, and arrangements. She will be joined by Domenico Sanna on piano, Francesco Poeti on guitar, Giuseppe Romagnoli on double bass, and Matteo Bultrini on drums.
Next up will be the Simona Trentacoste Quintet with "Lentamente" (Alfa Music record label). Slowness is the recommended approach for listening to a project characterized by intensity and refined yet accessible melodies, with harmonies that reflect a solid jazz background and a nostalgic inclination towards Italian song. Also on stage will be Carla Restivo on alto saxophone, Vito Favara on piano, Diego Tarantino on double bass, and Luca Trentacoste on drums.
Lucca Jazz Donna is sponsored by the Tuscany Region and is organized with the patronage of the Province of Lucca and the support of the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation, the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, the Municipality of Lucca, and the Municipality of Capannori. The event is also supported byFosber and Martinelli Luce. MORE INFO
