Lucca Jazz Donna 2025

  • 13 Piazza del Collegio Lucca, Toscana, 55100 Italy (map)

Five evenings, eleven concerts, a thousand shades of jazz: everything is ready for the 21st edition of Lucca Jazz Donna, an event promoted by the Lucca Jazz Club to promote female talent in a musical genre that for so long has only been dominated by female voices, but which in reality welcomes musicians, soloists, composers, and arrangers of the highest caliber.

For the penultimate evening, Thursday, August 28th, two more sets are scheduled. The first is expected to be Serena Marchi 5tet with "Voices that Resist the Wind...and Beyond." A classically trained flutist and contemporary musician, Marchi has found her expressiveness in improvisation and jazz music, and her creative flair in composition and arrangement. She will be joined by Olmo Chittò on vibraphone, Luca Scardovelli on guitar, Martino De Franceschi on double bass, Alessandro Ruocco on drums. The record label involved is Emme Records Label.

The second set will be performed by Elisabetta Antonini with her trio and the album Evolution. The songs draw inspiration from ambient, pop, jazz, and experimental music and develop into "sound paintings" inspired by the political commitment of Afrobeat activist Fela Kuti and the environmentalist and social commitment of photographer Sebastiao Salgado, with the poetic gaze of writers such as Buzzati and Bukowski. Joining her on stage are Alessandro Contini (vocals and effects) and Alessandro Gwis (piano and electronics). The album is produced by the record label Dodicilune.

each date, a local association or organization will be present to introduce itself to the public and present its activities. The organizations involved in this edition are the La Luna Anti-Violence Center, the UNICEF Lucca Committee, the Don Baroni Association, Anffas Lucca, and Casa Mandorla (a sheltered housing community).

Lucca Jazz Donna is sponsored by the Tuscany Region and is organized with the patronage of the Province of Lucca and the support of the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation, the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, the Municipality of Lucca, and the Municipality of Capannori. The event is also supported byFosber and Martinelli Luce. MORE INFO
