Giulia Perelli performs Simone Weil - Enduring Emptiness as part of the I Musei del Sorriso Festival,a reflection on one of the most radical forms of freedom: the courage to dwell in uncertainty, to endure the emptiness of not knowing. (IN ITALIAN)
Belonging is a fundamental human instinct. Being part of a family, political, cultural or social system protects and gives us security. But belonging can become a double-edged blade: it can reproduce patterns, feed collective hypnosis, consolidate dogmas and make us blind to each other.
Simone Weil went through these contradictions with radical independence of thought. Rich, chose poverty; Jew, approached Christ without joining the Church; pacifist, wanted to know the reality of war; revolutionary, became a reformist.
For her, the real enemy was any system capable of reducing the intelligence of the individual, personal freedom and the possibility of love.
β¨ Enduring emptiness is an encounter with an extraordinary and controversial figure, but also an invitation to pause, doubt, look deeper.
To bear the emptiness of not knowing, so that new forms of knowledge, relationship and amazement can be born.
