Saturday, November 29, the historic centre of Lucca will host a large procession of the Nativity and the Living Nativity Scenes from all over Tuscany. Tuscany and even more the Lucchesia are lands of nativity scenes. Even of living nativity scenes. For this reason, the National Association “City of Cribs” this year has chosen Lucca for the seventh edition of the “Procession of Nativity and Living Cribs longest in Italy”. It will also be a dress rehearsal for an identical event that will be proposed, again this year, in Rome in the Vatican in mid-December.
The appointment in Lucca is for Saturday 29 November from 3pm. Hundreds of people are expected in Lucca from all over Tuscany and beyond. Figures that could even reach a thousand with the adhesions of groups from Lucca. It also includes the participation of some animals (horses, sheep, goats, chickens, etc.) compatible with veterinary regulations and certifications.
The procession will start from Piazzale Verdi, from the San Donato bulwark, where the seat of the Ancient Mint of Lucca is located, and will wind in Via San Paolino, Piazza San Michele, Via Vittorio Veneto, Piazza Napoleone, Piazza del Giglio, Via del Duomo, Piazza San Giovanni to arrive in the Cathedral Church of San Martino where at 5pm Archbishop Paolo Giulietti will celebrate the Holy Mass.
