Sir Richard Bishop live from the U.S.

  • Circolo Arci 1855 Via di Sant'Alessio Lucca, Toscana, 55100 Italy (map)
In keeping with the "great musicians never come alone" motto, we're offering the second SUPERLIVE of October at the Circolino. He hails from the United States, and on his European tour, why not stop by the Circolino stage? Sir Richard Bishop was born in Saginaw, Michigan, in 1960. He's best known for his 26-year collaboration with the band Sun City Girls and as an experimental solo guitarist, whose work often reflects the dark worlds of India, the Middle East, North Africa, and other places along the gypsy trail. Richard, along with his brother Alan, left Michigan in 1979 and settled in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1981, the brothers joined drummer Charles Gocher and formed the long-running underground experimental group Sun City Girls, which, from 1981 to 2007, produced a vast discography of over 50 albums, 20 one-hour cassettes, and a dozen 7" records. Also in the early '80s, Richard was part of the group Paris 1942, which included Alan Bishop, J. Akkari (Jesse Srogoncik), and former Velvet Underground drummer Moe Tucker.
Ladies and gentlemen, we look forward to seeing you on Friday evening for a performance that comes from far away and spans all the time in the world! As always, Long live the Circolino and Long Live the Hot Guitars!
