The final event of the summer season: creativity, unique handmade works and “Artists at Work”
The 2026 summer season of the Meraki Market comes to a close with its final event on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, in the beautiful setting of Palazzo Sani, Via Fillungo 121, Lucca.
As always, the market exhibition will take place in the charming Loggia and garden on the ground floor, as well as in the magnificent Reception Hall on the first floor. Artists and creatives from a variety of backgrounds will present entirely handmade works, born from research, passion and meticulous attention to detail.
Painting and illustration, ceramics, jewellery created using a variety of techniques, wood and leather works, creative sewing, artistic recycling, Japanese papier-mâché and much more: every piece tells a unique story and reflects the creativity and artistic vision of its maker.
The common thread remains the meaning of the modern Greek word meraki: to put a part of oneself into everything one creates, working with passion, care and soul. It is a philosophy shared by every participating artist and reflected in the quality and uniqueness of the works on display.
This event also marks the conclusion of the summer season of "Artists at Work", the project that allows visitors to experience the creative process up close, engage with the artists and discover techniques, inspirations and the small secrets behind their work. The featured artist for this final edition is Michaela Kasparova, a painter originally from the Czech Republic. Born in Liberec, she studied drawing, toy design and oil painting before graduating in Textile and Fashion Design at the Technical University of Liberec. In 1996 she moved to Lucca, where she began working in the fashion industry.
Since 2004 she has devoted herself once again to painting, developing her own mixed-media technique based on acrylics, paper and Indian ink. In recent years she has expanded her artistic research by creating original textile sculptures that she calls The Guardians. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and regularly leads creative workshops for children and young people, sharing her passion for artistic experimentation.
During "Artists at Work", visitors will have the opportunity to watch Michaela create live while exploring one of the central themes of her artistic research: the crowd.
For Michaela Kasparova, the crowd is a metaphor for life itself: encounters and indifference, hopes and disappointments, defeats and new beginnings. Figures walking, running, pausing, dancing or moving uncertainly tell the endless variety of the human journey. It is a unique opportunity to witness the birth of an artwork and to discover the thoughts and emotions behind her creative process.
"Artists at Work" is a space created to encourage dialogue between artist and visitor: an opportunity to stop, observe, ask questions and be inspired as creativity takes shape before your eyes. The project celebrates handmade creativity, preserves traditional knowledge and techniques, and shares their continuous evolution in the present day.
Two days dedicated to creativity, passion and the beauty of handmade works, celebrating together the final summer edition of the Meraki Market in the heart of Lucca.
Next appointment after the summer break: 12, 13 and 14 September 2026.
