The works of master Gustavo Velez dialogue with masterpieces of art from the past in the squares and streets of Lucca's historic centre until 21 September,
Curated by Eike Schmidt, director general of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples and former director of the Galleria degli Uffizi, under the organisation of Oblong Contemporary, is an immersive dialogue in which 14 monumental sculptures in marble, bronze and steel will allow classical materiality and contemporary aesthetics to merge, transcending the boundaries of style, place and tradition.
Renowned on the international scene for his exploration of dynamic geometries and timeless materials, Vélez creates works that invite reflection on harmony, energy and human perception. Boundless Geometry offers the artist's distinctive vision: form, space and movement intertwine in a result of great refinement and strong visual impact.

Gustavo Velez
Gustavo Vélez was born on 4 October 1975 in Medellin (Colombia). Before finishing secondary school, he began his art studies in his home city, continued at the Lorenzo dei Medici School in Florence (Italy) and completed his training in the Pietrasanta art workshops.
His works have been exhibited in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Korea, China, Japan, Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy, England, Liechtenstein, the United States, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia.
The Museo Marino Marini (Italy), the Museo Bernard Boesch (France), the Museo de Arte Moderna in Cartagena (Colombia), the Museo de Arte Moderna in Guayaquil (Ecuador), the Museo de la Ciudad Imperial in Zhengzhou (China), among others, have had individual exhibitions of Gustavo Vélez.
Many of his sculptures are present in public and private collections, including the Raffles Hotel in Shenzhen and the Ritz Carlton in Nanjing, China; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Guayaquil (Ecuador), the Hiki Hospital in Utsunomiya and the Akasaka Palace bldg in Tokyo, Japan; the Museo dei Bozzetti in Pietrasanta, Italy; the headquarters of Apple INC in San Diego, California, United States; the Pontifical Bolivarian University in Colombia; the BHD Bank and the Museum of Modern Art in the Dominican Republic, among others.
