Lucca in Maschera - Carnivale on the Wall

The partnership with the Viareggio Carnival has been confirmed, with the grand parade returning to the Walls of Lucca on Sunday, February 8, 2026, winding through the city streets, bringing with it the magic of papier-mâché and the art of Tuscan Carnival.

The parade starts from Porta Vittorio Emanuele (Sant’Anna) and continues on the curtain of the city walls up to the Caffè delle Mura where it will then descend to Piazza Napoleone where there will be the first performance of dances, choreography of the masked groups and the masks of the school of papier-mâché and the school of Music

In the parade also the Panther from the famous Viareggio Master Carrista Luca Bertozzi, who represents the heraldic symbol of Lucca and Lucchetto, the mask designed by the collector Piero Caniparoli, which has its roots in the city tradition of the Carnival of Lucca and will welcome the Viareggio Burlamacco and Ondina.

In procession also three musical bodies, from the Banda Bassotti of the Philharmonic of Nozzano to those of Marlia and Villa Basilica, and the group Flags and Music cities of Lucca.
