  • Palazzo delle Esposizioni n. 7 Piazza San Martino Lucca, Toscana, 55100 Italy (map)

Arnaldo Galli – A Visionary art exhibition at Palazzo delle Esposizioni opens this evening at 5:30pm

Considered one of the most influential and appreciated manufacturers of the floats of the Viareggio Carnival over 50 years of career, it was the tank driver who won the first prize several times in the first category wagons in the history of Carnival. In addition to his artistic career in the world of Carnival, he is known nationally for having created the sets for Federico Fellini for the films I Vitelloni, Casanova and Boccaccio '70, for having collaborated with the mayor of Naples Achille Lauro for the Festival of Piedigrotta in the 1950s and for having created the set design of the papier-mâché balls for the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Italy in 1990.[ 1]

Arnaldo Galli was also the founder of a family destined to inextricably link its name to the Carnival of Viareggio first thanks to the brothers Renato and Giorgio Galli, then to his nephew Fabrizio Galli and last to his great-grandson Valentina Galli, the only female member of the family turned carrista.[ 2]
