The Road Home - Music of Home and Roots, from Scandinavia to Italy. A one-of-a-kind evening, exploring surprising paths from the choirs of Puccini and Verdi to the traditional polyphony of Northern Europe, from sacred music to the sounds of our time.

A unique evening, exploring surprising paths from the choirs of Puccini and Verdi to the traditional polyphony of Northern Europe, from sacred music to the sounds of our time. On Wednesday, November 19th , at 9:00 PM, the Royal Danish Opera Chorus and pianist Thomas Bagwell will take to the stage at the Teatro del Giglio-Puccini , conducted by Maestro Giorgio Musolesi.

"The Road Home - music of home and roots, from Scandinavia to Italy" is the title of the event dedicated to great choral classics (pieces by Puccini and Verdi) and absolute rarities, such as traditional music from Northern Europe

Founded in 1789 , the Royal Danish Opera Choir has survived the centuries, adapting to change and transformation. Today, however, it has the same number of voices as when it was born: forty. Its performances range from operas in Italian and German to titles in English, French, Russian, and Czech. In every performance, the choristers enthusiastically demonstrate their acting skills and their ability to effortlessly transition from one musical style to another. Being a chorister at the Royal Danish Opera, in fact, means possessing all the versatility necessary to range, on consecutive evenings, from Baroque to contemporary music.
